What is the Global Sumud Flotilla? Information
The Global Sumud Flotilla is an international solidarity movement that sets sail with the aim of peacefully exposing the naval blockade imposed on Gaza, opening a humanitarian corridor, and delivering aid to the people condemned to hunger. This coordinated flotilla, formed by civilian boats from different countries, seeks to remind the world that the people of Gaza are not alone.
Introduction
1. Initiative and Stakeholders
The Global Sumud Flotilla is an independent and non-violent solidarity movement consisting of civil society organizations, activists, doctors, journalists, and volunteers from more than 40 countries. It is professionally coordinated with logistics, legal, health, and media teams, and financed through donations.
Since October 7, Israel’s blockade on Gaza has systematically condemned the population to hunger and deprivation. Food, medicine, and basic needs have been blocked; millions of Palestinians have been forced into a struggle for survival.
Under these circumstances, the Sumud Flotilla sets out to deliver food, supplies, and humanitarian aid to Gaza.
“Sumud” means perseverance and resistance in Arabic; the flotilla bears this name as a symbol of dignified defiance against oppression.
The flotilla is not just a group of aid-carrying boats; it is also a powerful message to the world: “The people of Gaza are not alone.”
